Make-up Open Enrollment transfer request submissions will be accepted starting Monday, March 25 at 8:00 a.m. through Friday, March 29 by 4:30 p.m.  




The Huntington Beach Union High School District (HBUHSD) make-up Open Enrollment period for the 2019-20 school year is Monday, March 25, 2019 through Friday, March 29, 2019 at 4:30 p.m.  This provides a final opportunity for parents of any current or incoming student who resides in the district the opportunity to enroll in any school within the district, based on space and program availability.  Each school is required to serve the students who live within its attendance area prior to accepting any students from outside its attendance boundary.  Students who have not been pre-enrolled can go to their school of residence to pre-enroll for next year.

Though the district supports parental choice and is committed to Open Enrollment, once the Open Enrollment windows end OR a school/program reaches capacity, that school will be closed to Open Enrollment.  

The following conditions also apply to Open Enrollment:

  • Parents must provide transportation.
  • Space must be available at the school of desired attendance; including space in special programs.
  • Transition to middle school or high school is based not on the previous school of enrollment, but on the school attendance area assigned to the neighborhood of residence.
  • Once a request is submitted, parent and student agree to commit to the school of desired attendance for one year.
  • There is no need to reapply if your child is currently on Open Enrollment, a new application is only required if you wish to change schools.
  • Special Education student transfer requests must have final approval from the Executive Director of Special Education.

How to Complete the Open Enrollment Transfer Request


Please print and complete the Open Enrollment Transfer Request form and submit to the Huntington Beach Union High School District office located at 5832 Bolsa Avenue, Huntington Beach, CA 92647.  Deadline to submit is Friday, March 29 at 4:30 p.m.


*Due to class size limitations and space availability in our schools/programs, it is anticipated that we may not be able to honor all requests.
