Why HBUHSD?

Our six comprehensive high schools, two alternative high schools, and adult education program enjoy both local recognition as well as a national reputation. Our successes including high test scores, interscholastic championships, and acclaimed performing arts is a direct result of a strong teaching faculty, a dedicated classified staff, and a strong leadership team of school site administrators that receive support from a well-respected and knowledgeable Board of Trustees. This, coupled with strong parent and community advocates, enables our district to educate, prepare, and inspire our students to change the world.

HOW TO TRANSFER INTO HBUHSD:

If you reside outside the HBUHSD boundaries and wish for your student to be considered for enrollment in one of our six comprehensive high schools (Edison, Fountain Valley, Huntington Beach, Marina, Westminster, or Ocean View), you must first be released from your district of residence by obtaining an Interdistrict Attendance Agreement.

The process to apply for an Interdistrict transfer to the HBUHSD for the 2022-2023 school year requires submission of an HBUHSD Interdistrict application with the following attachments:

  • An approved Interdistrict Attendance Agreement, or approved confirmation email (must include student's name) from the resident district
  • Most recent transcript or report card
  • Attendance record
  • Disciplinary record (if a student does not have a discipline record, documentation must be submitted)
  • Individualized Educational Program (applicable to Special Education students only).

The acceptance window begins on Monday, April 18th.  Students who submit paperwork beginning April 18th will be considered for a transfer based on enrollment criteria and availability (HBUHSD Administrative Regulation 5116.2).  HBUHSD will attempt to accommodate a parent request for a particular school, but the request is not guaranteed.

Students that are accepted for an interdistrict transfer will be eligible to attend summer school 2022. Contact school guidance offices for corresponding registration deadlines. If a student wishes to attend summer school online through Pacific Coast High School, registration must be completed by 3:00 pm on May 19th.
