Meal Applications

NOTE:       ALL MEALS ARE FREE FOR THE 2021-2022 SCHOOL YEAR.  CURRENTLY MEAL APPLICATIONS ARE UNAVAILABLE.   PLEASE COMLETE ALTERNATE HOUSEHOLD INCOME FORM FOR P-EBT BENEFITS.

Free and Reduced Price Meals are available to families who qualify. If your family chooses to apply, please complete a 2021-2022 Free and Reduced Meal Price Application Form.  The forms can be obtained online or at the school office after July 1, 2021. The completed application can be returned to the school office after August 1, 2021. It is important to turn your application in as early as possible. Your child will be notified by the school of your child's meal status. Until notification, you must provide your child with a breakfast or lunch or money.

Only complete one application per family. The information you give will be used to determine or prove your child's eligibility for free or reduced-price meals. This information may also be used for other state or federally funded school benefits.

Factors considered in the application process are household size and total household income. HOUSEHOLD SIZE is considered all persons, related or unrelated: Including parents, children, grandparents who live in your home and share living expenses - DO NOT INCLUDE FOSTER CHILDREN in your household totals. The TOTAL HOUSEHOLD INCOME is the income each household member received last month before taxes - this includes wages, social security, pension, unemployment, welfare, child support, alimony, and any other cash income.

Foster Children
In certain cases, foster children are eligible for free and reduced-price meals regardless of your income. If you have foster children living with you and want to apply for them, complete a separate application for your foster child. Include only their income and they are considered a household of one.

Direct Certification
If your household currently receives benefits from the State of California for Cal-fresh (food stamps) or Cal-works or FDPIR, and you have received a letter from the HBUHSD stating that you have been approved for FREE MEALS for the current school year, you DO NOT need to fill out a Free and Reduced Meal Application.  However, if you have other children in your household who did not receive a direct certification approval letter and you wish for them to participate in the Free and Reduced Meal Program, please notify our Food Service Department.
