The Huntington Beach Union High School District (HBUHSD) was well represented at the event with six standout seniors (Huntington Beach, Marina, Ocean View, and Westminster) in attendance who received a total of $105,000 in combined scholarship money.

Here is the list of the HBUHSD students awarded with scholarships:

  • Coral Gangitano – Huntington Beach High School
  • Claudia Ramos – Marina High School
  • Jonathan Samayoa – Marina High School
  • Raquel Camacho – Ocean View High School
  • Brenton Huynh – Westminster High School

These six students were selected out of more than 500 applicants throughout Orange County.  With an array of scholarship amounts made available by organizations like Angels Baseball, Knott’s Berry Farm, and Hope International University, the night was filled with great excitement as each unique AVID scholarship was bestowed.

AVID is a college readiness program designed to help students develop the skills they need to be successful in college.  The program places special emphasis on growing writing, critical thinking, teamwork, organization and reading skills.

Congratulations to all of our stellar, standout seniors!
