WellSpace Now Open for Westminster High School Students and Staff

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. - On Wednesday, January 31, 2024, Westminster High School (WHS) debuted its brand new WellSpace on campus.

This newly refurbished space, named The Well, will play a crucial role on WHS’s campus, offering students and staff a haven for mental health and wellness support, resources, and relaxation. To promote various calming techniques, the area provides activities like mindful coloring, kinetic sand, and puzzles, as well as access to soothing aromas and sounds.

Additionally, many of the WHS Wellness Team's offices reside within the Well, including trained school counselors, mental health specialists, and a community outreach specialist. The Wellness Team also includes a case manager from Project Hope Alliance, ensuring students and staff have access to professional help in a welcoming environment.

“We are delighted to announce the grand opening of The Well at Westminster High School,” shared WHS Principal Amy Sabol. “This dedicated wellness space is designed to offer students, families, and staff a sanctuary for mindfulness breaks, access to valuable resources and support, and the opportunity to cultivate skills that will profoundly benefit their lives for many years to come.”

The establishment of The Well was made possible thanks to the incredible support and guidance of the Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) and the CHOC Foundation. Their partnership was instrumental in bringing this initiative to fruition.

The OCDE Wellness Team added, “We are profoundly grateful for the opportunity to partner with Westminster High School in establishing the WellSpace, a space dedicated to nurturing the well-being of all students. The WellSpace initiative grew from the desire to see all students thrive academically and social emotionally while being equipped with tools and strategies to navigate the complexities of life. We look forward to our continued partnership in supporting their WellSpace.”

The Huntington Beach Union High School District is thrilled for Westminster High School’s implementation of the WellSpace on campus, where mental health and overall well-being will be fostered within a welcoming space. We look forward to the positive impact this will have on WHS’s students and staff for years to come.
