Marina High School Announces Jonathan Goffman as New Athletic Director

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. - Marina High School (MHS) is thrilled to announce Jonathan Goffman as their new athletic director. Goffman comes to Marina from the Bronx, New York, where he gained experience in education, athletics, and school leadership.

Goffman earned his Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, followed by a Master’s in Education Leadership from SUNY Cortland and a Post-Master’s degree in School Building Leadership from Molloy University. He has served as a teacher, coach, athletic director, and Dean of Students in the Bronx. He joins Marina High School after relocating to Southern California with his wife to be closer to her family.

"It is an honor to be announced as the next athletic director at Marina High School,” shared Jonathan Goffman. “My focus will always be on building good student-athletes on and off the playing field. I look forward to fostering a culture of character, commitment, and teamwork, and to supporting our coaches and student-athletes in reaching their full potential, both as competitors and as people. Go Vikings!"

MHS Principal Dr. Rob Rasmussen exclaimed, “Jonathan brings a tremendous depth of experience and a genuine passion for education and athletics to Marina High School. What impressed me most about Jonathan is his commitment to developing not only successful athletic programs, but also confident, responsible, and well-rounded student-athletes. He understands the importance of building strong relationships with students, coaches, families, and our entire school community. I am excited to have Jonathan join our team and look forward to the positive impact he will have on Marina athletics.”

With experience in both coaching and athletics administration, the Huntington Beach Union High School District is confident Goffman will provide strong leadership for Marina’s athletic programs. His commitment to helping students grow through athletics, along with his emphasis on character both on and off the field, will be a benefit to Marina student-athletes, coaches, and the Viking community for years to come.
