Daniel Morris Returns as Principal of Huntington Beach High School

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. - Daniel Morris has been announced as the new principal of Huntington Beach High School (HBHS), returning to the Oiler campus after serving as principal of Edison High School (EHS).

A long-time member of the Huntington Beach Union High School District (HBUHSD), Morris served as principal of HBHS for eight years from 2015 to 2023. During that time, he fostered a strong sense of school spirit, promoted a positive campus culture, and supported students, staff, and families. He carried these key principles with him to EHS, where Morris played an integral role within the Charger community over the last two school years, including prioritizing campus beautification and emphasizing the importance of student voice. Prior to his time as a principal, Morris served as an assistant principal across multiple HBUHSD campuses at Edison High School, Huntington Beach Adult School, Coast High School, and Marina High School, totaling over 17 years as a leader within HBUHSD.

When asked about his return to HBHS, Daniel Morris exclaimed, "Huntington Beach High School has always held a special place in my heart. I’m honored and excited to rejoin the Oiler community. We’ve got an incredible staff, outstanding students, and a proud legacy, and I can’t wait to get to work, side by side, to take HB to the next level!"

HBUHSD Superintendent Dr. Carolee Ogata shared, “We’re excited for the return of Daniel Morris to the Oiler family! Having previously made a lasting impact at Huntington Beach High School, we’re confident that it will be not only a smooth transition but also an excellent opportunity for him to build upon the strong sense of community he helped establish during his previous tenure. We look forward to the continued growth, achievement, and school pride HBHS will see under Daniel’s leadership.”

The Huntington Beach Union High School District is thrilled to welcome Daniel Morris back to HBHS and looks forward to the positive influence he will have as he continues to strengthen the Oiler tradition of excellence and student success through his collaborative leadership.
