Huntington Beach Adult School to Offer Free Career Programs

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. - For the 2023-2024 school year, the Huntington Beach Adult School (HBAS) will offer free Career Technical Education (CTE) certificate programs for students of all income levels who are enrolled in a career pathway.

HBAS is always looking for new ways to increase community access to its programs. Principal Steve Curiel shared, “We have been hoping to eliminate CTE program fees for some time now, and I’m so excited that we are finally able to do so.”

Assistant Principal Jason Ross explained, “Even though our CTE program was already one of the best-priced in the state, we know that there are still potential students who, for a variety of reasons, don’t have the financial resources to enroll in our CTE program.”

With the Free CTE initiative, more students will be able to pursue a career in one of nine certificate programs, including medical assisting, medical billing and coding, pharmacy technician, accounting, administrative assistant, data entry clerk, business information worker, paraprofessional, and bus driver training.

The HBAS team is thrilled to open doors to new CTE students this fall. For Mr. Ross, “there is no greater joy than seeing a student complete our program and start a new job in their new career field.”

Seizing this opportunity is simple: attend a free virtual Career Information Session and enroll in a CTE certificate program.
