Westminster High School Announces Mike Schultz as New Athletic Director

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. - Westminster High School (WHS) is thrilled to announce Mike Schultz as their new athletic director. Schultz is currently a Science and AVID teacher at Westminster High School and previously assisted the baseball program for the last two years.

Schultz obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology with a Minor in Physical Education from Chico State University. He was awarded the Donald R. Penland Baseball Scholarship in both 2011 and 2012 while playing baseball at the Division II level. Schultz has spent nine years as an educator and twelve years coaching, with seven of those years at Paramount High School where he taught and coached the Varsity baseball team before coming to WHS.

“It is an honor to be announced as the next athletic director at Westminster High School as we continue to grow our athletic programs and leadership amongst our student-athletes,” shared Mike Schultz. “Stepping into the role of athletic director means creating an environment of high expectations for our coaches and student-athletes. I look forward to fostering a community of athletes that promotes building character, commitment, and teamwork. I am extremely excited to get to know our student-athletes and coaches and support them in achieving their individual and team goals. Go Lions!"

WHS Principal Amy Sabol stated, “With an impressive background in sports and a passion for fostering student-athlete relationships and success, Mike is poised to lead our athletics program. In addition to Mike’s strong leadership skills, he has shown exceptional communication and collaboration abilities, which will enable him to build strong relationships with our staff, alumni, families, and the broader Lion community. We are confident that his engaging approach will ensure that our athletic programs continue to thrive!”

The Huntington Beach Union High School District looks forward to all that Schultz will bring to the WHS athletic department. With his eagerness to support coaches, student-athletes, and families, we have no doubt that Lion Athletics will reach new heights.
