The Huntington Beach Union High School District has been a merit system district since 1966 with a Personnel Commission and is dedicated to protecting and adhering to the principles of merit as specified in the Education Code. The Commission meets monthly to consider examinations, eligibility lists, reclassifications, salary studies, rule changes, disciplinary appeals, and other areas of importance to classified employees. HBUHSD employs approximately 700 classified employees who provide vital services to support and enhance student learning. Additionally, we employ approximately 1,100 classified exempt employees who provide substitute, coaching, or other short-term and/or specialized services. The District serves the cities of Huntington Beach, Fountain Valley, and Westminster and was awarded as one of Orange County’s Top Workplaces in 2017.
