Huntington Beach Union High School District

Teacher of the Year awards announced!

Each year, the district honors two outstanding teachers who exemplify dedication, practice effective instruction methods, and have an overall passion for the art of educating students.

This year’s recipients are:

Rosie Geck – Spanish Teacher
Marina High School (MHS)

Hannah Geddy – English Teacher
Edison High School (EHS)

On any given day, both Rosie and Hannah can be seen embodying the district's mission to, "educate, prepare, and inspire students to change the world."

"Rosie is a passionate teacher who has dedicated her life to serving the students of Marina High School," Principal Jessie Marion said.  "She is an amazing classroom teacher, an outstanding leader of our site and district World Languages Department, and a dedicated Viking outside of the classroom."

When asked about Hannah, Principal D'liese Melendrez expressed, "Yes, Hannah Geddy is one of those amazing teachers that you have to see to believe.  She takes great pride in her craft as an Edison teacher first and foremost. It is so much fun to watch her in action and the kids love her class."

In October, Rosie and Hannah will be honored at the 2017 Orange County Teacher of the Year Ceremony at the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim, CA.

Congratulations to these stellar educators!
